TRUSSELL MOTORSPORTS, HOOVER HEADED NHRA IN 2010 |

Pro Mod pioneer Ed Hoover hopes to usher in the new decade in the same
fashion that he ushered in the last -- by winning an inaugural Pro
Modified event.
Hoover, of Columbia, SC, and driver of the Trussell Motorsports
Corvette, will participate in the NHRA Gatornationals, the first
official Pro Modified event under the NHRA sanction and recognized as a
professional class. In 1990, Hoover defeated Tim McAmis to win the
first-ever Pro Modified event contested.
That was 20 years ago, and while Hoover relishes the memories of that
historic event, he understands that history means nothing when
qualifying begins in Gainesville, Fla., for the start of the 10-race
NHRA Get Screened America tour. Hoover will be one of 28 teams vying
for the crown.
"It was a tough battle back in 1990, and with the advancements in the
class, it ought to be three times as difficult," Hoover said. "That was
a special victory for me because it was the first time we'd been a
professional class. It was even more special because my dad was there
to see it."
Hoover plans to run the entire NHRA schedule with open dates filled with ADRL events.
